Bright light copper colour. Spicy, with an aromatic malt character on the nose. Breadcrust but also light celery. Bready palate is somewhat light for the style but it has a balanced, well-constructed malt character.

Hopfen. Golden-straw with a thick head. Very bready aroma with strong herbal hop notes. Deep hoppy character with rich pale malts. Full body. Rounded, balanced character. Very nice example.

Bottle: Copper coloured, visible carbonation, small ans stable beige head; sweet honeyish and toasted-malty nose with a light bitter background; mild MF, light to moderate sweet-bitter flavour; gets a bit hoppier in the sweetish-toasted finish. O.K., but rather inoffensive.......

Bottle: Lively carbonation, big fluffy white head; sweetish-grainy (unmalted barley) nose with a very light metallic tinge; soft MF, light to moderate sweetish-bitter flavour; mild grainy-bitter finish. Unspectacular, mild but well crafted Helles............

(bottle) Hazy, copper colour with a thick and dense, light-beige foamy head. Moderately sweet cara-malty aroma, accompanied by notes of liquorice, tea and citrus-fruity, slightly herbal hops. Sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Slightly yeasty and subtle fruity cara-malty taste with notes of tea; moderately dry sweet-bitter, malt-accented finish with balancing hoppy accents. Good stuff; a bit slim but very aromatic (22.07.08).

(bottle) Clear, pale golden colour with a lacey medium-sized foamy white head. Moderately sweet grainy aroma with a touch of cara-malt, biscuits and draff. Medium sweet flavour with a balancing hoppy bitterness, light to medium bodied with a crispy mouthfeel. Malt-accented, bready and slightly biscuity taste with a rounded herbal and minimal citrus-fruity hoppy touch. Balanced and tasty Helles (18.07.08).

bottle, bought at the brewery. Pale yelow, large and creamy head. Hints of grin, malt, hoppy as well. Well-balanced brew with a long and hoppy finish.

Schiessl is a former Amberg brewery. After their closure Winkler started to brew their beers according to the original Schiessl recipe. bottle, bought at the brewery. Looks lovely, large creamy head, very hoppy noce. Intensive hop flavours, bitter, slightly malty. Very full-bodied with dry finish. Very nice indeed.
