Description
Nestled in the heart of the Jura, the Rouget de Lisle Brewery has been producing beers of character since 1994 with the purest respect for traditions. From childhood, Bruno Mangin, the founder, had a passion for beer. In 1990 Bruno and his wife Roseline opened a unique restaurant concept around beer and offered a menu of 340 beers from 40 countries. They prepare dishes cooked with beer. Their passion for beer being the strongest, they start to "cook their own beers" in their restaurant. Finally in 1994, they decide to produce a range of beers developed on the basis of their own recipes. In 2002, they set up the brewery in Bletterans.
In all, the brewery offers 13 different beers in bottles, part of which is aged in barrels, plus seasonal beers. The brewery produces 6,000 to 12,000 liters of beer per day. Fermentation is a minimum of one week then cellaring for 3 weeks. Then it is filtered on earth. These are unique and rare processes in the production of beer, which explains their quality.

Bottle, 75cl corked, courtesy of Pinball. It pours a hazy, yellowish-golden body with a rather small, off-white head. The aroma is quite spiced, with orange and some lemon, low on maltyness. Spiced, orangey and lemony flavor with some flowery notes. Medium body, quite effervescent. Bitter, flowery finish. A nice-tasting one, but there’s nothing special about it either. 100814

Okay yellow body and a modest pillow of head. Very faint aroma of lemon and grain. The taste is a hint of citrus with a very perfume-like hop finish. Not quite detergent but feels cloying. Not my favourite wit.

Dark amber body with no carbonation, small amount of head. Aroma of salted meat, barley, and coriander. Taste is a lot of barley with a wet finish. Rather earthy. Not bad, could have a thicker mouthfeel though.

Found randomly at a Christmas market in Montmartre, in between churro stands and chapeau shops, little toy stores and a merry-go-round, a present for a grownup: a small beer tent! Boring golden body with carbonation, modest layer of head. Aroma is malty bread. Taste is a nice mix of grains with a hoppy aftertaste. Absolutely no alcohol in this, which makes it extremely drinkable. Very good for a session - a short session!

bottle from jaghana - thank you very much! Clear deep brown, nearly black colour, large and creamy beige head. Aroma of chocolate and caramel. Full-bodied, velvety palate, lots of chocolate, caramel, toffee fidge, biscuits, raisins, plums. Complex and very interesting beer - a pleasure.
