Description
Nestled in the heart of the Jura, the Rouget de Lisle Brewery has been producing beers of character since 1994 with the purest respect for traditions. From childhood, Bruno Mangin, the founder, had a passion for beer. In 1990 Bruno and his wife Roseline opened a unique restaurant concept around beer and offered a menu of 340 beers from 40 countries. They prepare dishes cooked with beer. Their passion for beer being the strongest, they start to "cook their own beers" in their restaurant. Finally in 1994, they decide to produce a range of beers developed on the basis of their own recipes. In 2002, they set up the brewery in Bletterans.

In all, the brewery offers 13 different beers in bottles, part of which is aged in barrels, plus seasonal beers. The brewery produces 6,000 to 12,000 liters of beer per day. Fermentation is a minimum of one week then cellaring for 3 weeks. Then it is filtered on earth. These are unique and rare processes in the production of beer, which explains their quality.

(Bottle 33 cl) Very dark brown, almost black with a very huge and stable head. Some burned notes from the malt, some bitterness well balanced by the malty sweetness. Close to perfection. According to the back-label this is a Christmas beer. 240304

(Bottle 33 cl) Gee, where did I get this beer? I don’t remember. But it doesn’t really matter either, because these Combe Aux Loups beers are excellent. This one is filtered, dark mahogany-coloured, nice head. Malty, slightly coffeeish with a discreet sweetness. Extremely harmonic and well balanced. 091203

Amber color. Poor aroma, paper like. Dry mouthfeel, with a light smokeyness. Bamberg is miles away….

Hazy blond color. Light aroma, maybe some white pepper. Not really a classic wheat beer, quite sweet and malty. More bitter than usual at the end. Not bad, but…

Pale amber beer with a very nice refreshing fruity/strawberry aroma. The flavour is slightly watery, a little dry, but generally refreshing with a slight apple juice feel. Overall a very nice refreshing beer.

Dark beer with little head for a biere de garde. The aroma is hopped with a dry and alcoholic feel, and the flavour is harsh and malt whisky like. Overall a poor biere de garde.

Dark beer with a foamy head, and a gentle malty biere de garde aroma. The flavour is slightly chemical like with a general malt feeling. Overall a poorish French beer.
