720 ml bottle from Furusato Nozei. Clear, icy, viscous. Nose is rice, spicy koji, light vanilla and caramel, pears. Sweet rice, vanilla cream, pears, apples, grain. Rich and pretty nice. Relatively light and crisp.

Bottle at home, it would seem this same gets rated every 3 years so happy to continue that trend. Enjoyed while breaking my streak of horrendous movies by something that was decent. Pour was fine at first thought was overly tinged but seemed to clear. Nose is faint fruitiness. Tastes of light pear, stone fruit, melon juice maybe some almond skin. Medium bodied and slight thicker mouthfeel. Hint of boozy heat. Anyways pleased to get back on the sake.

Bottle pour. Nice fruit and acidity, good umami too. Rich and full. Citrus, stone fruit, rich full fruitiness and sweet, but not at all overly sweet. Surprisingly good for a Kyushu sake.

So they threw us a curveball. This one had some meat on it.
Bottle sampled at Sakaya NYC. Tough little plastic pill cup.
Clear & inconspicuous.
Didn’t expect the smell. Starchy & toffee-like. Faint esters. Weizenbock?
Taste is bigger & bolder. I definitely sense the described figgy-ness. Dark fruit sweetness, Caramelized. Oxidation. Cheerios. Semisweet. Woody bitterness. Warming booze. Not all that thick either. Subtle trailing acid. Overeager rep wants to pour me another? Sure.
He likes it. :)

Third Sake of the night at the Indra - Cider, Sake and Mead tasting 8/31/07. Pour looks like Chardonnay. Aroma is sweet boozy rice. Taste is very hot, with rice sweetness. Taste is normal Sake, though the heat really jumps out at you.
