My first sake, so don’t expect a well-informed review. 720ml bottle. Ecocert Certificate. Completely clear colour, maybe a very, very, small hint of yellow. I drank this at room temp. The bottle suggested warm, too, someone suggested cold. Hm. The nose is sharp, alcohol, boiled rice, lemon. Interesting. The taste is very, very smooth. Tinged with alcohol, which also leaves a faint "burning" aftertaste. There are hints of rice crispies, and maybe slight lemon. Interesting and different. The taste actually changed after I first opened the bottle. At first, it tasted like a watered down schnapps, with maybe some hints that would show that it was made of rice. Later on, it developed a nice herbalness, that can be felt from time to time, but that herbal taste fought with a strong medicinal taste. Now, a couple of days later, those two tastes seem to have cancelled out each other for the biggest part. My initial notes said that "I really think that this was as bad as they get." Now, I don’t think it’s that bad at all.
Slightly interesting sidenotes:
I brought it to my birthday party, and people liked it (despite thinking that it still tasted like watered down schnapps), and (I know, I’m a heathen) it tasted really good mixed with warm orange/apple/cinnamon tea. I’d get it again if I could. The distributor pulled it from the shelves in Zagreb for some reason, and won’t be getting it again. I’m drinking the last bottle available in Split right now. A pity. I’ll rerate this when I’m more experienced (if I’m able to get it), till then, I’m stuck with these ratings that are either bloated or maybe a downrate. Ah, well.
