Bottle pour at Yasaiya Teppanyaki Vegetables Akasaka, pours a clear water colour. Aroma brings out soft rice-like notes without much booze. Flavour is fairly dry, with soft floral notes, light lychee, and a bit of subtly sweet stone fruit. Smooth and lychee-like finish. Not much complexity or much of anything going on. I don't know my sakes but I'm not too impressed with this one.

250ml bottle from Japan Centre. Hazy milky yellowish colour, short-lived fizzy white foam head and aroma of rice, melon, booze. Taste is rice, fruity, earthy, boozy. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, drying earthy finish. Quite OK.

270ml bottle from Japan Centre. 15%. Clear very pale yellow colour, afew short-lived bubbles on top and aroma of rice, melon, citrus. Taste is sweetish, rice, fruity, earthy, boozy. Oily mouthfeel, medium bodied, low carbonation, dry warming earthy finish. Nicely drinkable.

280 ml bottle at Kinosaki Onsen. Slightly lemony nose with the slightest hint of yamahai acidity. Otherwise crisp and light, mellow and rather bland.

Glass on ice from a 5-year-old bottle. Shared by the man who grew the rice for this, at Yoshitsune Izakaya in Tottori. Creamy aged kimoto nose, rich rice, acidity, some yogurt. Not oxidixed much. Clear, still not taking on color, though a bit thick. Rich and tasty kimoto flavor, a touch of oxidation, but not the taste of a true koshu. Full, creamy. Excellent stuff.
