3rd Aug 2018, draft at some random stall along the Berlin Beer Mile Festival. Dark brown body, light mist; beige head that tried to hang around. Malty molasses rule the nose and semi-sweet taste with caramel and toffee to the fore; a little hop action calms it all down nicely and the finish is more balanced than the initial sip.

Bottle @ Bayreuth. Pours Amber copper with a white head. Vague roast, Dark fruit, chocolate and dusty coffee. Medium bodied.

Vom Faß in der urigen Gaststube von Manns Bräu, Bayreuth. - Schönes Goldbraun, klar, üppiger Schaum. - In der Nase angenehm warm karamelmalzig mit Anklängen an Süßkirsche. - Antrunk weich und voll karamelmalzig mit leichter Kaffeenote und dezenter Frucht. Sehr „tiefe“ Karamelmalzigkeit mit beträchtlicher aber perfekt eingebundener Restsüße. Milde, ideal kontrastierende Fruchtigkeit, leichte Herbe. Mild rezent, sahnig weich im Mund, für einen Bock beinahe schlank. Abgang eher malzbitter als hopfenbitter. - Satter, wunderbar malziger Bock, perfekt abgerundet. Eine echte Entdeckung.

Bottle looks interesting. Beer in the glass brownish, nice head. Malty-roasty aroma, light smokey notes. Starts milder, not as smokey as exspected, malty-roasty, light earthy, modest dry. Finish a bit boring-malty. Okay.

Dark brown coloured and clear. Has an off-white head, mostly lasting. Aroma is faint malty. Nice flavor, sweet, caramel, bread, light bread.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein dunkelbraunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch röstmalzig, Karamell, leicht würzig. Geschmack angenehm röstmalzig, leichte schokoladige Noten, leicht würzig.

Gering säuerlicher Beginn mit röstigen und dunklen Malznoten. Die Säuerlichkeit passt nun gut ins Gesamtbild, geringe Würzigkeit aber gelungene, nicht übertriebene Röstnoten. Diese nimmt mit der Zeit ab, die Malznoten an sich nehmen aber zu. Rundes Bier mit lang anhaltendem Nachgeschmack. 9/9/11/10/9/10

(bottle) Clear, mahogany colour with a big and tanned foamy head. Mildly sweet and toasted malty aroma with notes of milk chocolate and traces of toffee. Moderately sweet and delicately bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a pleasant carbonation. Dark malty and slightly toasty taste with notes of toffee and again flavours of chocolate; dry-ish sweet-bitter and malt-accented finish. Well-crafted and balanced Dunkel. 29.V.12

500ml bottle. Clear dark deeply red glowing brown with average frothy to creamy lacing off-white head. Grainy dark malty aroma, slightly roasty, a touch of hay. Taste is initially dark malty with a roast touch, gains a minimally dry and almost metallic overtone, later slightly sweet dark malty again.

Bottle: Deep mahagony coloured, presumably clear, midsized stable off-white creamy head, slight toasty aromas in the dark-malty nose, a certain nutty fruitiness is detectable, too; dryish bitter-sweetish flavour, medium bodied, quite soft; toasty notes in the nutty-bitter finish. Very pleasant...
