Bottle pour at Genki (Tokyo), pours a clear blonde, no head. Aroma brings out gentle lychee, a hint of white wine, and booze. Flavour is smooth and less boozy than the Yamahai, with lychee, booze, and a touch of white wine. Lots of lychee and smooth white stone fruit. Really solid.

Bottle pour at Genki (Tokyo), pours a cloudy white — looks like milk with chunks. Nose reveals lychee, coconut milk, booze and some white wine. Flavour is milky, with lychee, stone fruit chunks, and white wine. Boozy, lychee-like, and vinous. Interesting stuff.

Bottle pour at Genki (Tokyo), pours a clear blonde. Nose brings out strong lychee, nice rice notes and a little white wine. Flavour is rich and complex, with white wine, lychee, and soft rice. Boozy in the nicest of ways, with a vinous, lychee finish. Excellent — amongst the nicest sakes I’ve tried.

Bottle. Bir toasty rice aroma, funky, apples, vanilla, green apple and pear. Yellowish color. Sour flavor, citrus, green apple, vanilla, husk, brown rice. Very funky, also fresh, fruity, and tangy. Pear and berries in the finish. Lovely.

Cup at Kunitaya. Deep yellow but clear. Yamahai nose, funk, acid, yogurt, rice, a bit fruity. Crisp and funky, rather dry, rice, peach, yogurt. Crisp and nicely drinkable.
