BCA. Pours a dark amber with a decent, off-white head that proved long-lasting. Aroma of red fruits, orange peel, caramel and spicy hops. Flavour started with some sweet malt, redcurrants, earthy hops and a long bitter finish. An excellent strong bitter.

Cask-conditioned at the Three Guineas, Reading 29/5/08. Deep brown in colour with a small, off-white head. Aroma had some caramel, nuts and red fruit. Flavour was sweet, with more caramel, before plenty of grassy hops in a long bitter finish. A lot going on in the glass but it didn’t quite come together for me.

[on draught at the Hobgoblin, Reading] Claims to be a cask conditioned lager, but lives up to it’s name - much more like a golden ale than a lager. Sweet honeyed aroma and initial taste, before the bitterness kicks in. Lots of citrus flavours. Slightly disconcerting drinking something so sweet and so bitter in the same taste. Lovely honeyed hops aftertaste.

50 cL bottle. Pours hazy brown with an immediately disappearing off white head. Light spiced to herbal aroma with a mild malt note. Flavour is dry bitter with a subdued spice and malt note. More spiced and towards herbal into the finish. Too spiced for my liking.

Bottle. Smokey cocoa and cola aroma. Dark brown color with giant tan head. Tart/lightly astringent smokey chocolate/toffee malt flavor. Nice full body plus really enoy the smokiness.
