Cask at Merton Summer Beer Festival 06-07-07. Glorious golden colour with lovely bubbly white foam. Some sulphur on the aroma front, bitterness was quite pronounced and like Glen mentions it was actually quite dry. Tasty bitter, that maybe lacked a bit of maltiness to equal things out but I enjoyed the few small samples that I had over the weekend and another beer that had itโs own admirers.

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of madsberg. Pours a hazy, golden with a small, rough, white head. Aroma of yeast, banana and diacetyl - all that is pretty much right, but then things go terribly wrong: medium body, completely flat, banana accents and then an unpleasant chemical and very unclean tang. No go. 270607

Cask-conditioned. Deep golden coloured with a slight white head. Balanced aroma of floral hops with fruity malt. Dry mouthfeel with flavour of citrus and some malt in the finish. I could have drunk this all night.

Thanks to Joris for hosting ... very pale slightly hazy yellow ... grapefruit and little honey in nose ... Soft sweet mellow melon ... some wheat and no real smokeyness.

Fully hazy apricot colour, no head. A bit of hops, yes, wheat Iโd agree, and a bit of grapefruit... Wheat, soupy, celeri, and indeed, finally, smoked retronasal. Sweet-ish, but thankfully not cloying, too thin for that. Flat as a pancake. A bit - strange. Somehow, I donโt feel like jumping up and singing after this "smoked" beer. I wonder what the Germans think of it... Sebastian? - thanks for sharing!

500ml bottle from Realale.com at Ealing BF 07. Cloudy muddy red/brown colour. Thick lasting beige head. Hop aroma is lovely. Full in mouth. Very good, red berry, full bitter. Sherberty hop aroma. Malts come through too. I really like Oakleaf beers, although it started well, it became poor. Some chalkyness. Starts well, but this chalky mouthfeel is not good and lasts into the finish.

Cask gravity at Ealing BF 2007. Clear gold, bubbly white lasting head. Yes it has got lager malt, but the hops are excelllent. Decent citrus hops all over it. The finish in particular is reminiscent of a bitter. Ditto the mouthfeel. More of a golden beer than a lager.

Cask at GBBF 2006. A yellow beer with a bubbly white head. The aroma is sweet grassy, while the flavor is sweet grassy on an OK malty background, leading to a dry bitter end. Very refreshing.

Huge coarse-laced white head over light copper body with some carbonation. Fruity, resiny aroma with hoppy notes. Sharpish, peppery resiny taste with lemony, fruity, wooden notes. Bitter, wooden aftertaste. Interesting, and drinkable, but quite sharp, without too much pleasant stuff to make up for it. Does indeed not taste like a typical lager, but neither does it taste like a normal bitter. (0.5l bottle.)
