Description
Hilden Brewing Company was established by Ann and Seamus Scullion in 1981 in the courtyard of Hilden House the former home of the Barbour linen barons. Here the Scullions reintroduced into Ireland the tradition of a local brewery making beers of distinctive character and taste. Hilden is now the oldest independent brewery on the island of Ireland. The brewery is now managed by Seamus and Ann’s son Owen who is a qualified and full time brewer.

Our craft beer takes a little bit longer to brew than others. Selecting the finest ingredients and handcrafting the traditional process demands patience. But 35 years? That’s how long we’ve been making our full flavoured beers, improving and perfecting them year after year. It makes us the oldest independent brewery in Ireland and those who drink our beer agree it’s been time well spent.

Can thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - lively at minimum, after several pours it's a hazy yellow with big lively head. Nose - candied lemon, bread and light spice. Taste - white pepper and sweet lemon, almost curd. Palate - light to medium bodied, tangy middle. The finish is a little too sweet for the style. Overall - not unpleasant in the end, but not up to what is usually one of my favourite styles.
