Description

0,33l bottle at home. BB 09/2017. black color, small coffee-colored head. smells of dark bread, earthy, lightly sour, hints of green apples, lightly leathery. overall quite decent smell. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes sweet, caramel, also some sourness in the background, bit puke-like, spices, licorice, lightly earthy, milk chocolate, light lethery, overall rather creamy. finishes lightly acidic also sweet with notes of milk chocolate, caramel and some licorice. overall decent stuff, but a bit weird, the sour notes are a bit weird, but it does keep the sweetness in check, but both are not totally well integrated. overall still quite decent.

The second "tasty lady" made at de Eem, with moussy, thick, tan coloured head and black robe with burgundy edges. Aroma of fondant chocolate, espresso, cocoa powder, cured meat, vanilla, toasted brown bread, toffee, fig. Sweet raisin and date flavors in the onset, candied but not sticky and countered by a basic sourish undercurrent, caramelly and toffeeish malt sweet middle shifting towards toasted bitterness with a beautiful chocolatey edge at first and a dash of coffee powder in the end, cleverly paired with a peppery hop bitterish accent; alcohol remains as good as hidden. May not be the most exuberant example of the style but this is clearly well made, with almost an imperial porter-like character to it in its chocolate sweetness and creaminess - and indeed, tasty. Enjoyed it a lot.

Dark brown, nearly black beer under a thick pale greige head. Very malty notse; roasted malts, but pale sweet malts too, maltbread, rusty. Sweet-roasted flavour, roastgravy without the seasoning. Very faint stout acidity. Bit fruity too, dark fruit. Quite creamy texture, very slick, medium to well-carbonated. Going to play devils’ advocate, but with good intentions. Yes, this IS a tasty beer, but it DOES confirm once more the female stereotypes. It is fruity, dark, with a texture as Bailey’s cream, and above all, SWEET. Actually quite a tad too sweet for a Porter, IMHO (blind, I’d guessed a stronger English mild). I had hoped for something more daring. And, last but not least. if we want to get rid of the clichés, then stop making beer "for/from women"; as well as beer "for men"...
