Cask handpull at The Wenlock Arms, London. Badged as Pitfield Bitter. Amber, lasting bubbly beige head. Competent session bitter. Some hop, yeast, caramel aroma. Great hop kicks in mouth, with bitterness on end, citrus earthy hop. Ticks all the boxes

Cask handpull at Wenlock Arms. Cloudy pale lemon colour a bit like a thick lemon squash. Sharp green apple aroma. Some sourness. Sour in mouth. Dry as a bone on finish. Dry/sour cider. Parching in fact. Good apple juice flavour with sour/dry finish. Not subtle. Likeable though.

Black color; thin brown head. Aroma of roasted malt and yeast (too strong). Medium body, some malt and roasted malt, molasses; light roasted malt sourness and some yeast. In the end the alcohol is warming; some roasted malt and liquorice. Not very professional.

(Bottle 50 cl) Comes as "Pitfield 1860 XX Stout". Pours a dark brown with an orangey hue and a beige head. Vinous, lightly tart nose with some rasiny accents. Flavours are of burned malt with an ashy edge. Has a surprising underlying sweetness with some acidity and light notes of dried fruits. Very discreet bitterness. 160206

A very deep red beer with a fast disappearing off-white head. The aroma is primarily of chocolate combined with light notes of alcohol and sulphur. The flavor is sweet alcoholic combined with notes of sulphur and chocolate. It lacks some power, for being a stout, for being in the Pitfield anniversary series, and for being 6% ABV.
