Description
Pelican Brewing Company was born at the beach in Pacific City in 1996. Here, in front of a rundown old building at the water’s edge, stood three enthusiastic young folks whose thirst for great beer overshadowed their understanding of what it would take to build a brewery. They did it anyway. And now twenty years later, older, and wiser, Pelican Brewing Company is a craft beer industry leader with fans throughout the Northwest and around the world. Today we’ve taken our breweries and our values to other Oregon coastal towns where we wake up each day in a place that reminds us that amazing is possible. Cheers fellow fanatics. This is as good as it gets.

Draught at the brewpub. Clear ruby, small but lasting head. Complex fruity aroma. Sweet with dense mouthfeel, near full body andnotes of toffee and molasses. There’s also a wealth of exotic fruits. Lingering salty bitter finish.

Draught at the brewpub. Ruby colour, small head. Port-like aroma where the added honey is rather evident. Sweet and thick with massive body and soft mouthfeel. Caramel and syrup dominates, but some grapefruit shines through. Salty finish.

Draught at the brewpub. Clear copper colour, rich but brief head. Bready aroma. Firly sweet with rounded mouthfeel. Aromatic hay-like hops mingle with freshly baked bread. Fairly low bitterness. Well balanced. The best Poor Richards Ale I’ve tried.

Draught at the brewpub. Black, brief head. Aroma of mildly roasted coffee. Dryish with fairly light body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. There are notes of aniseed and some other stuff, but the lack of malt softness doesn’t allow me to pick up the more subtle flavours. Medium bitterness.

Draught at the brewpub. Dark black with minimal beige head. Strong roasty coffee aroma. Dry and firmly malty. It’s dominated by roasty malt, butbalanced by light grapefruity hops. Long nicely bitter finish. An excellent stout, even though the mouthfeel might be on the clean/hard side.

Thanks to cmaruschak for providing me with this superb IPA. Pours a bright bronze/orange color with tiny rising bubbles and a medium white fluffy head. Nice lacing streaks the glass. Big citrusy hops aroma. Medium-bodied with an excellent hops flavor. Citrus and a bit of malt and herb flavors are very well-balanced. The finish retains the flavorful hops throughout. This is probably the best "regular" IPA I have had, beating out even Alesmith and Buckeye Hippie IPA. Excellent!

A pitch black beer with a disappearing brown head. The aroma is sweet with lots of chocolate and coffee. The flavor contains lots of chocolate, wood, coffee, and grapefruit, leading to a dry end. But the body is thin.

[At Stockholm Beer Festival 2005] A brown beer with a huge brown head. The aroma is sweet and slightly hoppy, while the flavor is just like an English brown ale, primary notes of roasted malt, slight note of caramel, with a dry end, and a thin body.
