Description
Pelican Brewing Company was born at the beach in Pacific City in 1996. Here, in front of a rundown old building at the water’s edge, stood three enthusiastic young folks whose thirst for great beer overshadowed their understanding of what it would take to build a brewery. They did it anyway. And now twenty years later, older, and wiser, Pelican Brewing Company is a craft beer industry leader with fans throughout the Northwest and around the world. Today we’ve taken our breweries and our values to other Oregon coastal towns where we wake up each day in a place that reminds us that amazing is possible. Cheers fellow fanatics. This is as good as it gets.

Bottle from Hops & Bottles. Thought I'd had all of Pelican's offerings, but found this. Harkening back to a simpler time when IPAs were bitter, but not hop bombs. Malty, light bittetness, and very, very dry.

Can from the PDX Made in Oregon. Pours bright gold with a fizzy/creamy/transient head. Aroma of melon, white/green grapes and noticeable pale malt. Med body, almost. Flavor is very melon with some other mixed fruits including citrus. Almost bitingly dry. Bitter enough to please. Good drink.

Bottle from the PDF Made in Oregon shop. Pours clear bright copper with a slight white head. Aroma is passion fruit with some citrus. Detectable malt. Med body. Flavor is fruity. There's passion fruit and grapefruit zest, and pine. Definite hop burn for me. Call it well towards dry. Heavily hopped. Pleasingly, more than moderately, bitter. It's good IPA!

Bottle from Made in Oregon at PDX. Pours orange gold with a slight white head. Aroma of citrus and mild caramel. Med body or nearly. Pretty dry; malt is decently balanced with hop that's pretty much citrus. Fairly bitter; or more. Good drink.

Tap at OBF 2019. Pours clean and very red with a pink tinged head. Aroma of mint and lime. Med body. Flavor: hibiscus and mint. Dryish. Mint stands in for bitter. Tasty; fruity. Not exactly a fruit beer tho.
