Description
Pelican Brewing Company was born at the beach in Pacific City in 1996. Here, in front of a rundown old building at the water’s edge, stood three enthusiastic young folks whose thirst for great beer overshadowed their understanding of what it would take to build a brewery. They did it anyway. And now twenty years later, older, and wiser, Pelican Brewing Company is a craft beer industry leader with fans throughout the Northwest and around the world. Today we’ve taken our breweries and our values to other Oregon coastal towns where we wake up each day in a place that reminds us that amazing is possible. Cheers fellow fanatics. This is as good as it gets.

Tap at Pelican Cannon Beach. Classic West Coast Pale Ale. Filtered orange body. NW hops. Old school but nice. Heavier side of medium bodied. Good.

Tap at Pelican Cannon Beach. Sweet and creamy. Forebearer of Black IPA. Heavy specialty malts, but still well balanced. Classic NW hop tones. Excellent beer.

Tap at Pelican Cannon Beach. Bright orange body, unfiltered but not opaque. Juicy, mosaic peach tone. Not really a hazy per se, but a solid IPA. A little hefty feeling for 6.2%. Pretty solid beer overall.

Crowler fill, thanks to Britney at Growler Guys. Aroma is dark bread crust, toasted marshmallow, anise, caramel. Pours dark brown with a two finger beige head with excellent retention and lace. Taste is moderately sweet and lightly bitter in the finish. Really great brown ale.

Can from a Grocery Outlet. Pours hazy/translucent coppery/gold with a slight white head. Aroma is mango/citrus with some slightly roasty malt support. Med body or so. Flavor rather matches the aroma. It's a little juicy; not all that dry; not all that bitter. I think the wheat provides inadequate support for the malt. Barley - Barley - Barley (except for fruit beers I suppose). It's an ok drink, but not up to the best NE IPAs.

Bottle: Poured a light brownish orange with no head. Aroma is huge boozy with malts. Taste is boozy alcohol with malts little more American hops rugged.

355ml bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of dark malts, roast, chocolate, coffee, hops. Taste of sweet dark malts, chocolate, coffee, roast, subtle fruit, bitter finish. Medium bodied, smooth, soft carbonation. Decent.

Bomber from work. Aroma is floral, wood, orange candy circus peanuts (thankfully this disappears quickly), gin. Pours hazy golden with a one finger bone-white head with decent retention and lace. Taste is moderately sweet, savory, hint of tartness in the finish. Flavors of Belgian yeast with notes of banana and clove, some coconut, wood, floral notes. Perfectly carbonated mouthfeel. Good stuff. I don't get the negative reviews at all.

22 oz bottle poured, picked up at Pelican Tillamook. Golden orange, slight haze. Interesting beer here. Peach seems to get stronger as the beer goes. Really refreshing. Pale lager nose, with just a hint of peach and mixed fruit. Totally been into these peach beers lately, but this has to be the first pale lager I've had. Quite nice.
