Description
Pelican Brewing Company was born at the beach in Pacific City in 1996. Here, in front of a rundown old building at the water’s edge, stood three enthusiastic young folks whose thirst for great beer overshadowed their understanding of what it would take to build a brewery. They did it anyway. And now twenty years later, older, and wiser, Pelican Brewing Company is a craft beer industry leader with fans throughout the Northwest and around the world. Today we’ve taken our breweries and our values to other Oregon coastal towns where we wake up each day in a place that reminds us that amazing is possible. Cheers fellow fanatics. This is as good as it gets.

Bottle from Mid Columbia. Pours a toffee colored brown with a big beige head that quickly fades. Aroma is sweet, somewhat muted. Didn't get good vibes with the flavor either; it's sweet and muddled with an odd spice/earthy thing. No graham cracker whatsoever, if that is indeed what they were going for here.

Tall 19.2 can from Mid-Columbia. Pours a hazy yellow with a large white head. Big aroma is sweet citrus and tropical fruit. Sets the tone for juicy. Sweet and fruity, citrus and tropical fruit. Nice modest bitters to finish. Juicy and tasty.

Bottle from Tavour. Pours clear, dark coppery brown with a tan head that lasted mere seconds. Aroma of smooth roasty/dry toffee malt with vanllla and wood notes. Some dark fruits. Approaching full bodied. Flavor of dark toffee, dark fruits, vanilla, non-musty wood, heat. It's not dry, but quite far from sticky. There's a bitterness equivalent from heat and something else. I will not say there's burnt malt. There just isn't. It's very like a malty port wine in some ways. Excruciatingly delicious.

12 oz from a six pack from the grocery store. This year's version is 6.5% ABV. No sports theme on the label, either. Aroma has notes of pine, coconut, lemon rind. Pours clear golden with a one finger bone-white head with good retention. Taste has a moderate bitterness with flavors like the aroma. Nothing wrong with the palate. A little mediocre, but not bad.

Taster at Growler Guys. Orange golden pour, ring of white head. Aroma is banana, bubblegum and clove. Taste is all of those plus some fresh baked bread. Aroma and taste are right on, body is a near miss.

12oz bottle from Homebrewstuff. Mildly cloudy amber pour, sparse head. Strong coffee aroma. Coffee dominates the taste too. Any roast malts are buried under the coffee.
