Description
Pelican Brewing Company was born at the beach in Pacific City in 1996. Here, in front of a rundown old building at the water’s edge, stood three enthusiastic young folks whose thirst for great beer overshadowed their understanding of what it would take to build a brewery. They did it anyway. And now twenty years later, older, and wiser, Pelican Brewing Company is a craft beer industry leader with fans throughout the Northwest and around the world. Today we’ve taken our breweries and our values to other Oregon coastal towns where we wake up each day in a place that reminds us that amazing is possible. Cheers fellow fanatics. This is as good as it gets.

Sample at the brewpub. The beer is a clear yellow-gold color with a medium frothy white head that dissipates steadily. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of fruit and bready malt. Light body with flavors of mild hops, sweet malt and fruit. Touches of corn as well. The finish is lightly hopped with a grainy malt aftertaste. Tasty Cream Ale overall.

2005 bottle sampled at the SLC tasting 1/23/10
Appearance: Poured a dark golden with a small off white head
Aroma: Caramel, fruits, toasted malts
Taste: Sweet malts, dark fruits, caramel
This bottle had very little carbonation and had a watery mouthfeel. It was tasty though.

10th October 2008. GABF. Clear gold beer. Lagerish but with a softer palate. This beer is all about the finish - sweet cream with a touch of hop. Not bad.

This luscious brew was served up by none other than Gillard! Thanks Ryan. Pours clear deep mahogany with thin tan head. The aroma is full of dark fruitiness heading into solid boozy nose searing heat at the end of the draw. The taste is smooth and sweet with prunes, ripe plums and raisins. By midway solid heat like booze tries to take over the flavor right into the finish. Very nice stuff that could use a few years of aging to bring it into perfection.

Bottle (with a "10" on the cap) thanks to DA. Pours with a beautiful, crystal clear amber-orange body and a large, fluffy white head. Some good lacing. Aroma of citrus cascade, a bit fruity, pine and dank, with fresh bread dough notes in the back ground with a tinge of fresh clover honey. Taste is bread, followed by a lot of floral and then bitter hops, and a good bit of crystal malt. Prickly carbonation. I need more from these guys!
