Description
Pelican Brewing Company was born at the beach in Pacific City in 1996. Here, in front of a rundown old building at the water’s edge, stood three enthusiastic young folks whose thirst for great beer overshadowed their understanding of what it would take to build a brewery. They did it anyway. And now twenty years later, older, and wiser, Pelican Brewing Company is a craft beer industry leader with fans throughout the Northwest and around the world. Today we’ve taken our breweries and our values to other Oregon coastal towns where we wake up each day in a place that reminds us that amazing is possible. Cheers fellow fanatics. This is as good as it gets.

I picked up the bottle recently, so hopefully it’s fresh enough. Hazy golden color with generous head. The aroma has some nice toffee malt (7.5). The mouthfeel is lean, bold but not too sweet; some malt flavor, but it also has some bitter-sour component.
Something is strange.

Cloudy light amber color. The aroma shows resiny and fruity hops, nutty too, sweaty. Good sweetish toffee flavor, with an extreme hopping, very resiny.

Bottle 65 cl. Pours an almost clear deep golden with an off-white head. Peachy hop aroma. Medium body, overripe fruit and burned caramel. Rather sulphurous and bitter finish. A little rough perhaps. 220909

Thanks to Skyview for sharing this one. This is a very earthy beer, with dirt and vegetable flavor. Quite sweet with malt, no perceivable hops. Very smooth, but thick and heavy also. The alcohol is well hidden. It becomes sweet and the palate smoother as it warms.

Small white head. Hazy yellow body. Can smell citric aromas even before the glass reaches me. Citric mango and grapefruit aroma with resiny caramel notes. Dry-sweetish honey resiny caramel taste with grapefruit notes. Mid-bodied. Dry resiny wooden aftertaste with peppery notes. Very nice and drinkable. (At Oslo beer junta tasting.)

From Skyview. Dark brown color. Loads of malt aromas and flavor. Some caramel, lightly roasted, sweet, dried fruit, and Belgian yeast. There is an interesting mineral water flavor that works with this beer. Good stuff.
