Description
Established in 1913, Ölgerðin is the Icelandic word for 'brewery', and, as the name suggests, brewing was the company’s main focus from the start. The brewery is named for Egill Skallagrímsson, a Viking Age poet.

330ml can, brought back from Iceland by Rupe, my brother. Drank at his place in Devon on 28th February 2026. Pale golden body, white crown. It's just like a cheap, rough supermarket lager.

330ml can at my brothers in Devon (he brought it back from Iceland for me). Drank on 27th February 2026. Bright golden body, clean and clear look; on top a weak white crown. This came across as a crap lager in my eyes.

Canned in Akureyri. Cloudy brown with orange head. Aroma of orange juice with a touch of wort. Sweet with light body and rounded mouthfeel. Orange juice from concentrate and worty malt. Low bitterness.

Old rating from 26-05-15. 330ml bottle, 5.6%, brought back from Iceland. Pours a clear dark amber with a white head. Aromas & tastes of oak & barley. Moderate body. Moderate bitter finish.

28/11/2025. Can from the Icelandic Store. Looks fine. Malty, grainy, cardboard around. Not worty though. Watery, as expected. Finish is a bit clammy. But it’s OK for an NA.

Old rating from 26-05-15 - 330ml bottle brought back from my Iceland trip. Pours amber with a white foamy head. Aromas & tastes of bread, corn & sweet malt. Moderate body. Light bitter finish. Drinkable
