Folkingebrew was founded with the aim of brewing beer that we like to drink ourselves. That is why we make beers with a distinct character in taste, aroma and color.
Because of our passion for good beer, we try to get a little better with every beer and push our boundaries.
Folkinge, the first part of our name, refers to the location where we started brewing: in the 'backyard' of a beer shop on the Folkingestraat in Groningen. Brew refers to the American craft beer culture, where we get our inspiration.
Between 2018-2025 client brewer, became a brewery in 2025 but the large batches, which are canned, are still brewed at Baxbier.

Can from Beerdome. Aroma is dank hop, grass, oniony notes, citrus, tropical fruits, pineapple. Flavour is medium bitter and slightly sweetish. Body is medium. Fairly bitter for the style, lacks a little smoothness. Dank and grassy, tropical, pretty good, bit sharp.

Can from BiervanEijk, Frederiksoord. Aroma is dank 'green' hop, citrus, grass, prominent Nelson hop, herbal notes, pineapple, white grape. Flavour is medium bitter with a little sweetness. Body is medium. Dank and weedy, prominent Nelson hops. Good, quite dank and weedy. Nothing great though.

Hazed orange topped with a white cap that thins to a swirl.
Nose is grapefruit, mixed tropicana, pineapple, mango, soft malts.
Taste comprises bitter orange, pineapple, grass, melon, mango, papaya.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spliced with juicy come lightly resinous hop bitterness.
Okay DIPA but runs a little on the sweet side for my liking.

Can from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is fruity hops with ripe-ish citrus, some weedy and oniony dankness, tropical fruits, mango, soft pale malt with oats. Flavour is a bit sweetish with a mild bitterness. Medium body. Dank and fruity, pleasant but still quite a step down from the early brews.

Can from Drankenhandel Leiden. Juicy fruity hop aroma with pretty upfront alcohol I'm afraid. Picking up ripe orange, oats, nectarine, tropical fruits, but the alcohol kills a lot of the nuance. Sweetish flavour with a harsh bitter boozy finish. Medium body. I hoped this would be a return to form after a couple of disappointing beers, but this booziness is a detriment to drinkability and balance.

Can at Café De Gezelligheid, Zwolle. Aroma is juicy fruity hops with smooth pale malt, oats, pineapple, citrus, tropical fruits, mango. Moderate bitter and lightly sweetish, finishes a bit dry. Medium body. A nice and juicy unit from Folkinge, good balance. A winner.

Can at Café De Koffer, Groningen. Citrussy aroma with orange, oats, tropical fruits, pineapple. Moderate to medium bitter, lightly sweetish. Body is medium. Fairly smooth, decent IPA, not too special though, they've done better.

Can from BiervanEijk, Frederiksoord. Lots of lime in the aroma, with vanilla, lacto, creamy pie, cardamom, tropical with mango. Mild tart, light sourish, light sweet. Body is above medium with some fruit puree thickness. Eh, okay, but too much of a fruit-juice lactobomb.
