300ml at Brevinga, Riga with Runar. Hazy amber body with small head that leaves lacing and fine layer on top. Fresh fruits, pineapple, nectarines and orange. Very nice and fresh! Decent.

On tap at Taka, Riga Supposedly a Berliner Weisse but in reality nothing like – except the sharpness. Pours a pale lemony yellow with quickly vanishing head. Lemon and other citrus in the nose, mouthfeel is sharp, but not excessively so, and an underlying malty hoppiness, which then dominates the finish. Not a bad lager, but a very poor Berliner Weisse !

On tap at Riga Beer Festival Very pale with a almost greeny shade. No noticeable nose, and just some hops in the taste. I would call this “inoffensive”, but my Latvian friends didn’t like it, claiming in was too hoppy ! Name allregedly means “a person who likes Fridays” – though I think they made the word up.

Bottle, brought home from Riga Beer Festival Pours a hazy burgundy red colour, with small off-white head. Nose is predominantly nutty with almonds to the fore. Taste by contrast is dominated by fruit, including pears and raspberries. Well carbonated but in a soft manner. Quite similar to De Koninck, but without the clout. Name means “follower of things Belgian” by the way
