Sampler at the brewpub. Lots of strong black patent like aromas but not the bitterness - fumy, debittered ash. Flavor is just a much more watery version. I liked the aroma but the flavor could not hold it up. A bit burnt in the aftertaste. Lower acidity.

Sampler at the brewpub. As expected this is a super sweet and vanilla alcohol and barrel assault on the senses. Almost flat pour and carbonation. Acidity pretty high, which doesn’t help the sickening sweetness and nauseating vanilla. My wife and I could barrel touch the 6oz pour.

Sampler at brewpub. Nothing said this was barrel aged but this is where I have to rate it. This was the beer I liked best from the sampler. Orange-amber clear color. Lightly sticky lacing. Aroma is moderate fruitiness but not astringent, beer feels thick on the nose. Pretty neutral after that, which is good and means nothing bad. Flavor is appropriately sweet for the style, fruity yeast character, low bitterness, some neutral-fruity hops breaking through. Surprisingly lighter on the palate than anticipated. Not amazing but good.

Sampler at the brewpub. Hazy gold color. Again, some light sulfur character with lemon pledge hops. Not bad but not crisp at all. A bit of a husky malt character in the flavor. A bit more lemon pledge, metal, and sulfur in the aftertaste.

Sampler at brewpub. Clear dark gold/amber color. Lightly sulphury and rather sweet aroma. Very fruit for some reason. Flavor is similar. Could not drink too much sweet, seems very poorly conditioned, just a bad and dirty beer.

Draft at Taps 25, Lansing. Slightly hazy straw-orange body, medium dense cream head. Leafy, bitter nose with citrus and tropical fruit (papaya, passion fruit) skin. Bitter, leafy body with tannic fruit peel and fermented tropical fruit. Also some dusty biscuity notes.

Draft at HopCat, East Lansing. Medium-dark red body, thin off-white head. Sharp, sweet, and tart raspberry nose. Cobwebby, funky body with wispy sugars, light sweetness, and firm tart raspberry bite. Dusty. Light, crisp, earthy, and biting. Very nice beer. These guys nail sours.

Pint at Dexters. Hazy yellow-orange, thin steady oily head. A little butter in the aroma lets you know how this is going to be a sub par lager. Tastes odd. Decent ingredients, more than average hoppitude, but the off sour buttery tones kill it. Really gets worse the more you sip. Amateur hour PIls, wast of money. Noble hop overload can’t rescue it from the putrid, rancid tones.
