Sampled from the tap at the 15th annual MBGSF. Pours a clear ruby amber with a tan head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a nice tart red fruit note with lots of raspberries and a bit of underlying plum and barrel. Flavor begins slightly tart and grows in sourness with raspberries and finishes with a nice barrel note. Quite drinkable considering abv.

Sampled from the tap at the 15th annual MBGSF. Pours a clear amber with a tan head that dissipates completely. Aroma is full of green peppers with a bit of underlying sour cherry and some earthy barrel notes. Flavor has the same raw green pepper note up front that mellows to allow sour cherry and dark grains to come out. Pepper note was of putting for me.

Like many of the other raters, I found this atypical to the style. This was my first in a flight that included a belgian ale and I thought the bartender had mixed up the pour order. Fruity, spicy; lively, crisp; a very interesting pilsener. I was convinced to try it because of Ratebeerians’ ratings and I was not disappointed.

Draft. Deep amber body with a frothy, off-white head. Leafy hop aroma with notes of toasted grain and a hint of caramel. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately to heavily bitter. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. This beer is one dimensional and that’s bitter. In fact, the bitterness overpowers everything. A hint of malts before the bitterness takes over. Maybe that’s good, because the hint of malts is grainy and unclean.
