Super deep dark brown coloured body that almost shows like a jet black body with almost no opacity here at all - quite strong looking, and deeply black throughout with an oily glow on top and nothing else. Aroma of pure licorice, a ton of bitter and super roasted (if not, burnt) malts with a lot of peat and roast, coffee and pure nuts among with a light dose of peanut butter and a heavy hand of oatmeal and some lactose as well. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong rich roasted and almost burnt malts show at first with a perceived sweetness from the complexities and the caramel, but the lactose really shines through, especially at the end. Aftertaste shows a more balanced bite, with the hops noticeable, but the malt, complexities and depth are even stronger than initially sampled. Overall, a nice and deep Imperial Stout that perhaps has a robust malt complexity with some deep sugars, a little bit of lactose and chocolate, but finishing fairly well-rounded and soft. A nice beer, but not great, and considering it's age, should be a bit better off in terms of complexity, while being easy-drinking. I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from The Beer Cave (Bob's Sunoco) in Callaway, Maryland (Patuxent River) on 06-March-2018 for US$3,49 sampled almost exactly two years later at home in Washington on 08-March-2020.

Fairly hazy golden and light copper coloured body with a thinnish, single centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of flowers, grapefruit, light resin and a dash of subtle tropical fruits, all with some alcohol and astringency noticeable. Medium-bodied; Strong floral bite at first with a nice balance of malt along with some pleasant fruit-based sugars and a smooth, yet bitter hop profile that shows the resinous and floral characteristics nicely and ends well with some alcohol showing through at the finish. Aftertaste shows the alcohol and burn throughout, but the sugars from the finish help out the bitterness and the malts provide enough support throughout to make this very rich and complex, yet not really showing the 8,0% abv that is supposedly is. Overall, a nice and enjoyable IPA that borders with imperial status and shows more of a 'traditional' East Coast IPA than a New England or Imperial IPA for sure, but regardless, is very nice. I sampled this sixteen ounce pour on draught at Whole Foods in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 11-November-2019 for US$6,00.

Can. Hazy yellow with a nice white head. Juicy citrus and tropical fruit aroma and flavor. Good balance of sweetness and bitterness, doesn't have that thick heavy cloying sweet flavor some IIPAs have. I'll have another.
