Draft, at MBC taproom. Whew! Last beer of a very large sampler tray (but I still their bottled beers to try)! Even though I'm sated with a dozen different beers, this one still pops through. A dark ruby glass, then a roasted but not burnt mocha coffee taste. Even get a bit of toffee to it.

Draft, at MBC taproom, Oooh, mama! They are pushing it in a field crowded with great beers. It is an excellent brew on its own merits. A strong taste that avoids the mediciny aspect of a lot of other RIS's. I'd like to have taken some home to age.

Draft, at MBC taproom. Has a burnt coffee smell, but in a nice way. This seems to be even darker than a G**nness (sorry, I'm tired of seeing their Ad by Google pop up every time it's mentioned). A reak dark roast coffee smell and taste.

Draft, at MBC taproom. Well, I should give it a higher rating just to help it up after they fixed their initial problems, but this still needs a little work. I'm used to nut browns having a much more complex flavor profile, and this just wasn't there. There is a fine, slightly toasty aspect to its fine brown frame, and just a peek of nuttiness. They seem to be working on it with each batch. But the friendly atmosphere at their taproom makes it all worht the trip.

Draft, at MBC taproom. Yet another pale ale from these guys. This one does, in fact, have the spicy character of an IPA, but the body is a little darker and maltier. Hard to make this stand out among the many fine MBC brews I sampled during my pub crawl across Michigan!

Draft, at MBC taproom. Interesting that Michigan Brewing has 3 pale ales on tap (not counting Celis Pale Bock, which is actually another pale ale). This one is indeed different, though. A good and hoppy character with a fruity, almost sticky mouthfeel. However, I also caught something of a metallic tang in it, but otherwise a solid IPA with a bit of flair.

Draft at the MBC taphouse. Has a good amber color. A mild but pleasant "beery" smell to it. A fine example of what's basically a mild style.

Draft, at the brewery taproom. MBC brewed this special edition re-creation of the Sebewaing brand (1880-1965) for Sebewaing Township's 150th anniversary. Bartender told me this was an ale, but perhaps more of a lager-like "cream ale" like Genesee, which probably was the style in those days. Taste is crisp and light like a lager, but without lager yeast bite. This was available in "historic label" cans, especially their flagship pheasant label at Sebewaing stores this past summer, so I'm surprised no one has found it and rated it here. I also found Sebewaing has its own "Old Style." Wonder what the story was with that one.

Draft, at brewery taproom. Yes, a very German weizen type beer in its banana and spice aspect. The body is typically cloudy and sptritzy, so it's hitting all the right notes. Found it to be close to their Celis White in taste.

Draft, at taphouse. The folks at MBC also tell me it’s an organic grain bill, too. A different taste, not as hoppy as expected (and they certainly are pushing it to have three different pale ales on tap). It's a cloudy yellow in color as expected from a wheat-type beer, and slightly spicy more than bitter, at least to me.
