Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with medium frothy white head. The aroma is floral hop and yeast. Thin mouthfeel with a light fruit malt and caramel with sweet finish. A decent barley wine from Fort Collins.

On tap at Porter Beer Bar. Pours a clear amber brown with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a note of vanilla with caramel and sweet with a hint of oak. Flavor has a good amount of grain with some vanilla and oak.

Bottle @ home picked up at Wilburs Foco. Pours a hazy, dark orange appearance with a cream colored head. Toasty rye malty, caramel, somewhat spicy, earthy/piney hoppy, a touch fruity aroma. Chewy caramel, rye malty, bready, somewhat spicy, earthy, herbal flavor. Somewhat spicy, but fairly sweet and fruity. In general, I really enjoy Rye IPAs, but this isn’t one of them.

Bomber. Dark brown pour with a pretty big sudsy head and hugely hoppy aromas with a little chocolate malt hiding in the background. It’s a resin and citrus hops presence in the nose, but the flavor itself is much more chocolate, with the hops in the background a bit. Kind of a flip-floppy beer that moves back and forth. It’s more like a very hoppy chocolate stout than a black IPA, at least in my opinion. It’s good... But not immortal.

Bomber shared by Butters at the 18th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering. Pours a clear dark brown color with a medium sized frothy brown head. Good head retention. Aroma of dark malts, chocolate and raisin. The taste is chocolate, raisin, bitter pine and resin hops, candied fruits. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness. More like a hoppy Brown than a Black IPA, but still really good.

Cabbage nose. Clear amber, medium yellow head. Flavor is cloying butterscotch. As a fan of wheat beers and IPAs, I was excited to try this, but it didn’t live up to my expectations.
