Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is slight roast and not much else. Flavor is about the same. A slight roasted malt is all I’m getting. Watery after that. They made a boring brown ale even more boring.

Bottle 22fl.oz.Unclear medium yellow colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, moderate yeasty, baking yeast, citrus - lemony notes. Flavour is moderate sweet and light to light light moderate acidic with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20130111]

Big thanks to Gription79 for the share. It pours with a clear copper body supporting a near white head of foam. The aroma offers up raisins, malty sugar sweetness and some resiny vague sort of hoppiness. The taste starts with resiny hops that seem almost muted spicy cedar wood. It then moves into thick malts and then a thin raisin note mixed with malt sweetened citrus. Nice where the big ABV is well hidden.

2011 bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown color with a medium beige head. A sweet dusty nose with some barrel. The flavor is rich fruit, very dry throughout, some tobacco and darker fruit. Very mellow. Interesting.

Bottle thanks to the Dood! Pours a hazy pale golden yellow with a bubbly white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a musty funk to it with light wheat and just a touch of light tart lemon. Flavor is similar with a musty wheat note that has just a hint of light tartness towards the finish.

cloudy yellow, very small head mild salty aroma, pretty mild . flaovr is real good berliner weisse, flavor is salty, slightly citrussy, refreshing.

2011 bottle. Aroma is funky; there is a bit of Pinot but also a light sour cheese note. Fairly fruity, but the malt character is minimal. Pours a cloudy light brown with ruby highlights. Low lacing with medium legs. Flavor has light caramel malt and cracker notes but the wine barrel is very prevalent. It is a very fruity beer with notes of berry, stone fruit, cherry and dried fruits. Bitterness and astringency is low as is alcohol warmth. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium high carbonation. Astringency is low bit there is some vinous character. Low alcohol warmth. Overall not a bad beer. Lots of Pinot character which overwhelms the malt and hops. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2000th rating . Needed something special but just couldn’t think of what to drink and then an auspicious event occurred. I am visiting the Bier Station, a new bar in KC where all the hairy guys seem to be going, for the first time with my awesome friends the Blacks (Lora and Billiam) and of course Abbey. Its one of those store slash bar with nothing spectacular on tap but solid stuff. But I look around the bottles, eh nothing special, get a beer on tap that I am only mildly interested in drinking. As I walk away I decide to just look through the random boxes sitting around and what do I find, well stupid a bottle of this. I have wanted to drink this for a while but I refuse to pay the ridiculous store price for a Crabtree beer. Come on, it’s Crabtree. But why do I want to drink it, as I said its Crabtree. Well, the beer combines two of my favorite things beer and art. I mean how could it take so long to make a saison named after Cezanne. It’s so simple. And that answers why I want to drink the beer, still not worth the price. But at Bier Station tthe mark up to drink in store is very small. So the beer meets my desire for the beer but also more importantly a good deal.
Beer.... hmm, good stuff. Pours thick golden, no clarity, medium thick head. Aroma is beautiful layer of brett with natural peach skin. It’s hard to separate where one starts and the other ends. It’s all natural and lively and awesome. Flavor is less rich, fine but kind of empty compare to flavor. Slightly fruit Belgian ale, not much brett, no sourness. Just a bit disappointing but fine. Full and soft mouthfeel, almost like hairy peach skins tickling my cheeks.

Pour is a cloudy dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is a nice rich caramel malt with earthy tones. Flavor is some sweet malt with a bit of toffee pudding. Some earthy malt is left after the swallow. This is more of a brown ale but who’s counting? Still pretty decent for a style I’m not all that excited about.
