Glasshouse Beer Co
Microbrewery
in Birmingham,
West Midlands,
England 🏴
Associated Venue: Glasshouse Brewery Tap
Established in 2018
Graduating from Josh’s mum’s greenhouse in 2018 (where the brewery gets its name), GlassHouse had a rocky period over the pandemic but managed to push through by producing a great range of cans.
GlassHouse beer isn’t fined or filtered, and while it has been known to produce a milk stout or two, its beers are typically vegan. While they’re available nationally, the team’s glare is firmly fixed on improving and supporting the Birmingham beer scene.

On tap at Plau, Preston. Pours almost black with minimal beige head and good lacing. There’s roasted malts and coffee grounds in the aroma. In the mouth a brief initial sweetness quickly turns to coffee bitterness. Flavour has roasted malts, caramel and alcoholic strength with hints of vanilla and cocoa coming through later. Bitterness lasts into the slightly dry finish. This is decent.

440ml can from the brewery taproom. Poured a murky yellow golden colour with a thin white head. The aroma is big citrus fruits. The flavour is moderate bitter and sweet, with a fresh, smooth, rich, juicy light tart mango, peachy orange citrus, light mineral, light hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation. No idea about the Citra Dynaboost hop, but overall this was a great and sessionable beer. The best of the three 9th anniversary beers.

440ml can from the brewery taproom and shared in KL. Poured a hazy yellow golden colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is grainy, vinous. The flavour is moderate to light bitter, with a smooth, super fresh, vinous, mineral, buttery, stone fruits, light hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation. Improved massively when it warmed and got some air.

Can from Park Fever, Hither Green. Nice nose of nectarine, peach, gooseberry jam, grapefruit, lime, white grape. Taste is a flavoursome mix of the above. Bittersweet hoppy aftertaste. Nice.

Draft at the Glasshouse taproom. Poured a murky dark purple colour with little life. The aroma is not surprisingly, big blueberry. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a smooth, somewhat rich, light tart blueberry, sugary lactose palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
