Roasty aroma, lactic, vanilla, coffee, dry barley malt. Flavor is more of the same, with a good sense of roast and milky lactose. Bit of bitterness, but no hops flavor. Dry on the end, bit watery, but still well-done, IMO. Deep brownish-black color, transluscent with a small beige head.

Orange-yellow body, small, well-retained white head. Smells rather funky, maybe some fuggles gone South? Tastes of sugary, almost buttercream-like malt, bits of fruitiness apparent as well, light lemon-orange. A bit of soap on the finish. Medium body, no wateriness. I could get used to the odd funkiness, whatever it is.

(Cask conditioned). Sampled at the Wear Valley CAMRA beer festival, where it was served at room temperature. Low natural carbonation. Looks like a pale ale. Good aroma, quite fruity flavour. Would probably taste a lot better if served cooler.

Sampled cask conditioned in Edinburgh.
Pale amber. Big toffee aroma. Sweet and malty with loads of toffee and a hint of rhum. Salty bitter finish. A good, unusual pint.
