Cask at the CP&K, 15/01/18. Rich mahogany brown with a decent lasting beige head. Nose is dried fruits, brown bread, light spice, pouch tobacco, biscuit. Taste comprises cocoa powder, airy malts, chocolate biscuit, raisins, fruit cake. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying close. Solid flavoursome ESB .... the chocolate is well integrated and not a sweet mess as is sometimes the case.

Handpull cask at CASK Pub & Kitchen, Pimlico. Light brown with a bit of a reddish hue and a small bit of natural carbonation producing a thin sandalwood head. Woody aroma with a touch of yeasty treacle. Taste sweet at first but it's a touch bitter/sour toward the end. Finish is much drier, long and astringent with chocolate and horehound notes. Medium body. I think I like it...

Cask at the New Leathern Bottle, Warfield. A chestnut colour with a tight cream head; aroma of sour fruit; starts with a sour purple fruit taste, then some rich chocolate emerges; before a smooth bittersweet fruity chocolate finish. Interesting.

GBBF Day 1. Cask. Almost clear gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Sweet but pretty grainy malts. Floral bitterness and decent orange and lemon citrus. Dry finish. Okay IPA, hamstrung by the grainy malts.

Cask at the New Leathern Bottle, Warfield. A straw colour with a ring of white head; fresh leafy aroma, slightly lemony; grainy body with a pleasant citrus bitterness; then a long clean lipsmacking finish. A rather good summery ale.
