We dug a bit deeper, and realised that not only were the GF beers hidden behind the bar, but those on offer were just versions of well known (and to be fair, some well loved) brands. Nothing wrong with that, but it did seem a bit of a compromise: if you want gluten free, then you can’t have the original when it’s your choice?
So, that’s how The Free From Beer Co. came about: great gluten free flavouresome IPA and pilsner lager, brewed free from compromise first for draught, but fab for cans and bottles too.

330ml can from Crafty Fingers. Gluten Free. Golden colour, foamy white head and aroma of malt, grain. Taste is sweetish, malty, grain, spicy, with some papery bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, tangy bitter finish. Quite OK

Can from London Fields tap. Spicy grainy yeasty aroma. Pale gold. Frothy white head. Light bitter. The pepper overpowers the damp cardboard. Light bodied. Thin. Given buoyancy by the fizzy carbonation. Dry finish. Not too bad. Peppery pils.

Bottle from Garsons Farm Shop. Pleasant floral herby pine aroma. Thin bubbly white head. Light copper gold. Light bitter with a citrussy sour tang. Some spice. Some underlying quinine. Light bodied. Thin. Fizzy carbonation. Long dry finish. Wasn't expecting much based on where it's brewed (and the boring packaging doesn't help). However it actually pretty nice zesty stuff.

Aroma of hops, citrus, grapefruit, malt and grass. Moderate sweetness and medium plus bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, average carbonation. Nice bitterness to finish and decent overall, above average GF beer for sure.
