Description
Our Brewery was founded in 1993, the idea of Bill Allingham, the youngest son of the family. Edward Allingham, Bill's elder brother has since taken over the brewery and runs it as sole proprietor. Fast forward to present day. Edward Allingham's youngest son Matthew Allingham is now Head brewer of the mad brewer range and Brewery manger and shares the role of head brewer with his dad of the leatherbritches brewery range of beers. with the ever-increasing demand for the superb award winning beers Early in 2002 equipment was purchased to bottle beers using traditional methods. This is still our method of choice today. We are also proud to distribute our cask ales to over 150 real ale pubs and inns across the country and look forward to regaining contact with our wonderful customers in the near future.

The brewery has occupied three sites since opening in 1993. In 2011 the brewery moved to the current location at the Brewery Yard near the Tap House in Smisby village.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2017, [ Great British Beer Festival 2017 ], London Olympia, Hammersmith Road, London, England W14 8UX.[ As Leatherbritches Scary Hairy Export ].Clear medium orange yellow colour with a small, fizzy, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, sweet malt, moderate hoppy, citrus, fruity hops. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a long duration, fruity hops, pale malt, fruity, citrus - dried fruit. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20170808] 7-2-7-3-14

Cask ale at Kings Head in Leicester. Shared with Finn and jjsint. Clear dark golden body, bubbly white head laeving spotty lacing on the glass. Retrained smell of citrus. Canned fruity flavours backed by notes of biscuit. Short bittersweet endnotes. Average, more or less. (10.02.2019).

Half-pint, cask at Blue Boar in Leicester. Shared with Finn. Clear dark brown body, remaining beige head, clingy lacing. Moderate smell of dark brown malts. Blended taste character of nuts, caramel and dried fruits. Earthy malts with a fruity touch to the finish. Satisfying. (10.02.2019).

Half-pint, keg at Parcel Yard in Leicester. Shared with Finn. Patchy white head, spotty lacing, misty grey-golden body. Moderate smell of grass and dried fruits. Blended taste profile of pale malts and vague moments of dried fruits. Mid-sweet fruity ending. Just alright. (10.02.2019).

Handpull cask at the King's Head with Rune and Finn. Golden, clear with a thin filmy white head. Hay, grainy butterscotch aroma. Taste is bittersweet with noticeable bittering hop in the clean finsh. Flat carbonation but the mouthfeel is pleasantly full. Not great but certainly drinkable enough.

Delt med Rune i hyggelig selskap av jjsint. Mørkebrun. Så vidt litt skum. Forsiktig nøttearoma. Smaken metallisk frukt. Lett tørr avslutning. Kjeks.

Handpull cask at the Blue Boar, Leicester with Rune and Finn. Mid brown, clear with a ring of loose off-white head. Sour nutty aroma with caramel and sarsaparilla. Taste is oaky, bittersweet, slightly peppery. Long medicinal finish with a flat oily body. Not one of the better bitters available.

Delt med Rune. Gyldenbrun. Skum langs glasset. God aroma av mørke plommer. Smaken kjeks. Søt. Lett tørr avslutning.

Cask @ The Abbey. Pours dark ruby with a clerical collar of white foam. Not sure why this is classed as a Belgian Ale. And the pump clips says 5.9%, not 7.5% Rich?? Hm.. Aroma here is moderately sweet dark malts, liquorice. Taste is smooth with dark malts, liquorice, leather and coffee hints.. generally clean with low bitterness.
