Description
Our Brewery was founded in 1993, the idea of Bill Allingham, the youngest son of the family. Edward Allingham, Bill's elder brother has since taken over the brewery and runs it as sole proprietor. Fast forward to present day. Edward Allingham's youngest son Matthew Allingham is now Head brewer of the mad brewer range and Brewery manger and shares the role of head brewer with his dad of the leatherbritches brewery range of beers. with the ever-increasing demand for the superb award winning beers Early in 2002 equipment was purchased to bottle beers using traditional methods. This is still our method of choice today. We are also proud to distribute our cask ales to over 150 real ale pubs and inns across the country and look forward to regaining contact with our wonderful customers in the near future.

The brewery has occupied three sites since opening in 1993. In 2011 the brewery moved to the current location at the Brewery Yard near the Tap House in Smisby village.

Cask, handpump at The Crown, Beeston, Nottinghamshire 06.11.10 Pours dark amber with a creamy textured white head. This is dry, bitter and malty. Its pleasant if a little thin at times. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Cask at Guildford Arms, Edinburgh, Scotland. Amber colour, off white head. Aroma of rotten eggs/sulphur, light fruity. Flavour is light sweet, watery, light malty, grainy, light caramel. Light bodied, watery. Not good.

(Cask at Southampton Arms, Kentish Town, London, 8 Aug 2010) Pale golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, spicy nose with citrus, ginger and grass. Fruity, spicy taste with notes of citrus, grass and generous doses of ginger. Slightly soapy finish. Rather light body, dry and fairly bitter. Tasty and quite nice with a spicy ginger bite.

Cask, handpump at The Green Man & Blacks Head Hotel/Pub, Ashbourne, Derbyshire 18.09.10 Pours amber with a filmy white head, good clarity. Nutty taste, little fizziness on the tongue, buzzy bitterness, fresh clean taste, its fine but a fairly standard bitter. A6 A4 T6 P4 Ov12 3.2

Cask at the Southampton Arms on 18th December 2010. Clear amber with a small white head. Floral hoppiness and fruity notes with a citric undertone. Berry fruits, caramel malt sweetness and cherries. Aftertaste sweetish, evolving to bitterness between sips. Rich and intense.

Cask@GBBF2010. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is wood, fruits, some herbs and mild caramel malts. Flavour is quite much the same in a quite nice balance.

Hazy gold beer with a suddy white head. Light dry palate. Fresh light marmaladey hops. A whisper of sulphur. Finishes a little too dry. Okay.

Cask (handpump) @ The Brewery Tap (Derbyโ€™s Royal Standard), Derwent Street, Derby, Derbyshire England DE1 2ED.Alc. 5.9.%. Clear medium yellow orange color with a average, creamy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, moderate hoppy, grapefruit, citrus - lime. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20100117]

Cask@The Southampton Arms, London. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is eggy and fruity along with some mild earthy and grassy notes. Flavour is ginger, some citrus, mild wood, herbs and some grassyness as well.
