Cask at Old Bell, Derby Pours a rich red brown with minimal head, but good lacing. Nose is a heady mixture of apples and spices like cinnamon. In the mouth it is creamy with light carbonation. Taste is not only toffee and apples (obviously) but also other fruits like oranges. In contrast to the sweetness in the mouth, the finish is bitter with hopos and spcies dominating. Not bad at all – better than I was expecting.

Half-pint, cask ale, shared with Finn at Guild Ale House in Preston. Spotty lacing from a firm white head. Amber coloured body. Smell of brown malts joined by herbal hops. Mid-dry flavour character of caramel, biscuit, wood and earthy hops. Slightly bittersweet to the finish. Pretty alright. (09.02.2019).
