Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours a dark reddish-brown with a small cream head. There’s toffee and treacle in the aroma – plus the expected malts. In the mouth malts are the mainstay along with treacle , autumn fruits and parkin plus hints honey and oats. Later on the there traces of dates as well. Finish is sweet with a slight boozy character. This is an excellent strong mild – not quite up to Sarah Hughes standards, but still great.

Cask at Smithfield Derby. Pours golden yellow with minimal off-white head. Tropical fruits are the mainstay of the aroma. In the mouth it starts off sweet with langerine, floral hops and hints of pepper. Pretty soon though sticky citrus hops come in and ruin everything. Finish is dry snd sticky. This beer left a horrible taste in my mouth that it took literally hours to get rid of ! Ugh !!

Gravity cask at the 2022 Rutland CAMRA Festival, Rutland County Museum, Oakham. At 5.6% It's black all right, opaque with the thinnest ring of off-white head. Massive pine aroma with tons of gritty black malts. Sweet taste but just at first with a lot of chewy malt creating an jbtense bitterness. More hop toward the end of the sip with a long pine-laced finish. A Black IPA on steroids. Wonderful.
