Cask at Butlers Bell, Stafford. Pours a pale gold with a small foamy off-white head. Aroma has mainly biscuits and malts with a hint of summer fruits. It the mouth it is sharp and bitter like thick cut marmalade. There are floral hops plus grass, tangferines and a trace of generic citrus. Finish is dry. Not keen on this at all – but I’m not sure if it was a bad beer or a decent beer badly kept. Needs a rerate in happier circumstances.

Cask at Butler’s Bell, Stafford. I could have sworn that this beer was already listed on RB, so I didn’t bother taking a photo of the pump clip. But, hey ho, Untappd wins again… Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small cream head. Quite a pleasant aroma of malts and general fruitiness. Pretty much the same in the mouth with a sweet textutre, and flavours of dark fruits, malts and olde English spangles. After a while though you realise it’s rather watery. Nonetheless it’s a decent mild.

Cask at Butlers Bell, Stafford. Pours golden amber with a small frothy white head. Some vague generic citrus in the aroma. In the mouth there is a brief hint of sweetness before it becomes very bitter with citrus and oranges. Texture is rather syrupy and the finish has sticky orange all over. There’s a whole lot of bitterness here but not many hop characteristics. No for me this one.

Cask at Butlers Bell, Stafford. Pours a hazy bitter brown that is slow to settle, with a strong off-white head and good lacing. There’s malts and grains in the aroma, but not overdone. Mouthfeel is sharp and bitter with flavours of traditional hops, chestnuts plus a little malt and treacle. Later on some ginger can be detected. Reasonable enough, but not very exciting.

Cask at Butler’s Bell, Stafford. Pours a lemon yellow with minimal white head. Aroma is mainly malts. There’s a sharpness on first contact with the mouth with floral hops and caramel evident. Later it becomes slightly sweet and juicy with oranges to the fore. Finish is quite fruity too. Decent enough, but a little bland.

Gravity cask at Pigs Ear 2021 - Hackney. Pours clear, rich gold with a healthy, foamy white head. Lightly sweet with an interesting, almost tropical bubblegum fruit note, light citrus rind bitterness, subtle sun-kissed bread. Light bodied with fine carbonation; decent condition. Alright balance to finish, more bright fruity character, lightly toasted bready malts, nutty accents. Enjoyable bitter.
