Description
WHEN YOU SIT DOWN WITH A BEER, YOU’RE AFTER SOMETHING. Maybe it’s nuanced layers of flavor, the siren call of a favorite hop, or to test your skill identifying stone fruit tasting notes. Maybe you’re chasing the new or craving the familiar, perhaps you just want to kick back for a drink with friends—and order another of the same. At Bearded Iris, our beers meet you where you are and deliver the experience you seek, whatever it might be, because that’s what we believe makes beer worth drinking. CULTIVATE VARIETY DRIVES US AT BIBCO. (WE’RE NOT KIDDING.) With a menu that skews heavily toward IPAs, DIPAs, and pales, it can appear that we don’t, in fact, cultivate much “variety.” But here’s the thing: we’re not looking to bombard you with a checklist of styles. Instead, we know that each hop varietal and every intentionally selected ingredient contains a multitude of possibilities that can be deliberately unlocked and unleashed, then honed and hemmed in tightly, to construct a pint that’s unapologetically itself, memorably composed, and fun to drink. Every time. Regardless of style. To us, that’s the variety worth cultivating. And that’s what we bring to your table.

I’m guessing the super fruity notes come from the Riwakas; sweet melon, grapefruit, and papaya are present, along with a little bit of tart berry, mustard, and chive. Finishes with a smidge of grapefruit pith and then a fairly nondescript fade. Pretty basic.

Can at home, Nivala. Enjoyed straight from the can. Aromas and flavors: Some fruits, hops and malts. Decent but oily and little bit of boring.

Can from Tavour. Pours lightly hazy orange/gold with a huge foamy white head. Aroma of light toffee, passion fruit, green melon and lemony citrus. Med plus body. Flavor has 3 dimensional solid characteristics; passion fruit, melon, earth, lemony citrus. Surprisingly towards dry. Bitingly, passion fruitly, bitter. Good flavor.

Youromas and flavors are an interesting mix of citrus, mint and hints of berry. Flavors are nice balance of sweet, carbonation and bitter and some resin comes out. Great body but a slight medicinal finish.

Curious IPA, more focused on woody and earthy elements than juice, with a dry, soil-tinged backbone as the most prominent feature. Slight mandarin and tropical sweetness, as well as notes of pencil shavings and oak, with a mild finish. More interesting than good, but the texture is creamy and lacks any trace of the ABV. Worth trying.

From a pint can. Pours a clear gold with an off white head. Aromas of tangerines. Flavors are moderately bitter - plenty hoppy for a Pils - but delicious.
