Description
Brew Monster started when 4 friends joined forces to bring together their combined skills as a brewer, an accountant, a sale manager and a designer, with the dream of building one of Wales' best independent breweries. By March 2017 we were in a position to register the company and start building the business. To fund the original brewhouse and working capital, we took personal loans and raised additional funds from friends and family. This allowed us to buy a 4 bbl (650 litre) brewhouse and take a 3 year lease on a premises in Cwmbran. The brewhouse was installed in September 2017, and on 27th October 2017 we had our official launch party.
At the end of July 2020 we reached the end of the 3 year lease on our Cwmbran premises. The unit had been our beloved home and headquarters for 3 years, but due to limited space (and an inflexible landlord) we were forced to look for new premises to move our brewhouse. We were fortunate to find a great location in Caerphilly town centre. Coincidentally we got the keys for our new premises at Unit 1, Lon Y Twyn, Caerphilly on 31st July 2020, the same day we said goodbye and handed back the keys to our Cwmbran unit.

Keg draught at the tap house, Cardiff. Light to mid-gold, wheatily hazy, a small uneven film of white head. Getting a little coriander from the aroma, lemon balm, hay. Sweet taste, lots of orange and more coriander. Leading to a shirt and slightly sourish finish with jotes of boiled sweet around the edges. Oily body, almost no carbonation. Not bad but may not be tempted to seek out.

Cask at nerax, 4/20/23. Light haze, deep blonde. Smattering of white bubbles. Caramel malt somehow, with grassy, lightly citrusy hops. Maybe some refermentation byproduct yet, but moderately clean. Soft, malty, lots of coconutty hops? Gently bitter, good attenuation. Not overly compelling, but clean and malty. Not sure if the coconut, sabro-like character is intentional.
