Bottle from Taste of Northumbria. Appearance - amber with a thin lacy head. Nose - orange and fruitcake. Taste - orange, hobnobs and toast. Fruity orange on the finish. Palate - close to medium bodied. Nice bitterness from both malt and hops. Overall - good example of the style.

Bottle from Taste of Northumbria. Appearance - amber with lower than expected carbonation. No head as such but light lace. Nose - honey and cereal. Taste - grainy, honey, cereal again. Palate - close to medium bodied. Creamy and sweet. Lack of carbonation kinda spoils it. Overall - need to try this on cask as this seemed under carbonated and therefore my quite right.

On cask at the Sun Hotel in Warkworth. Appearance - amber with a thin head. Nose - dominated by gnger biscuit and tangy orange. Taste - more orange and again ginger biscuit comes through to take over. Palate - close to medium bodied. Crunchy middle and end. Overall - decent. Would like to try again as this was close to end of cask.

Bottle from CentrAle, Newcastle. Pours almost black with a good sized tan head. Really looked the part, the pour suggesting a richness that would greatly exceed expectations given it's modest abv. Alas, it really didn't offer much else. Aroma is weak roasted coffee, light chocolate and malt. Moderate sweetness, quite light bitterness. Light body, thin texture, above average carbonation, and not robust at all.

Gravity cask at Broood, Leicester. Light to mid-gold, flat. The aroma is gentle but there are no complaints from me about the notes of apricot, tangerine, pine and spruce. Bittersweet taste which is basic but fruity and refreshing with a gritty hop kick in the long finish. I like this very much.

Handpull cask at Broood, Leicester. Dark brown and only slightly translucent with a healthy khaki head on top. Big coffee hit and the tiniest bit of hot fudge in the aroma. Sweet with a slight bitter/sour finish. Toffee, milky coffee, and blackberry in the aftertaste. Quite enjoyable if ultimately inconsequential.
