Description
In 1908 Ernesto Günther and a group of investors founded in the city of Cusco, a branch of the Cervecería Alemana Günther & Tidow. In 1939 Cervecera Alemana Günther & Tido changed its name to Compañía Cervecera del Sur del Perú (Cervesur) and increased its production. In 2000 the company with its plants in Arequipa and Cusco, and with the popular brand Cusqueña, becomes part of the Backus Group (Backus y Johnston), thereby consolidating itself to the point of turning it into a company capable of competing in a globalized environment. Finally, in 2015, the Backus Group becomes part of AB InBev.

305ml (lol) bottle from D&S Getränke, Dresden, lagered in my Prague, Czechia fridge and shared in Zagreb, Croatia with Hrabren, as the beer simply needed to travel some more! Consumir ates 21/AGO/2025... oops. Well, at least I got a discount on 1/3 expired beers I got there. Huh... slightly skunky, bit oxidized, vaguely herbal aroma, got that sakeish tropical lager vibe too. Smoothish sweetish malty taste, more of that saké malty vibe. Drinkable, vaguest of herbal hoppy touches, no bitterness to speak of. I got what I expected I'd get... But hey, at least no need to try it until I run into it fresh in Peru on tap or something. Not godawful thankfully.

0.305 bottle thanks to Marko who brought it from Germany. Clear golden, small off-white head. Aroma is grainy, cooked corn, stale malt, cardboard and hints of vegetable. Smooth, light body, soft texture, light carbonation. Slick, sweet, bready, corn, minimal bitterness. Finishes sweet.

Most people are wrong, they confuse the cusqueña with the real dorada that it disappears few years ago. It was a bad lager watery, malty, tasting this mediocre beer in Peru, a long time ago.

In one Peruvian restaurant, at Sevilla, av Kansas city. A beer that the quality went down. It will be my last time to drink it, even a cruzcampo especial is better. This one is not pleasant at the palate, articial, metalic, sweet, few hop, beurk, 03.08.21
