Description
Our mission is pretty much monomaniacal: to brew f*cking good beer. We call it craft-y beer because the owl's got a sharp, uncompromised tongue and a penchant for mischief.
On a typical day we toy with the familiar – unfiltered lager, silky hefeweizen and puckery American IPA, anyone? – but at night we explore the crafty beer extremes from our medieval watering hole Haarlem (That's Haarlem with two 'a's, the Dutch one, and the namesake of New York's single-'a'ed Harlem).
Really truly, our idea of fun is abusing the rauchbeer-Scotch ale-sour beer-oak-aged Imperial Stout-Barley wine clichés. The first rule of owl school: when using hops think in wheelbarrows and not buckets.
So enjoy us, drink us and by all means hop fans abuse us right back – ideally via our social media channels where we announce our very active new creations.

Can on 18th January 2026 from the Uiltje Bar, Haarlem. Pours hazy amber with shallow off-white foam and spot lacing. Complex aroma of spiced fruits, citrus peel, pines and resins. Zesty peels and spiced fruitiness dominate the liquid pass, and a bitter smoky note develops to join a complex, interesting finish. Smooth mouthfeel and a full body.

I have bought this can at Amstein, St-Légier during the last winter. Opening this can two days ago after an ordinary day of job perfect at night and for a free beer of alcohol, it was a good surprise, tasty with fruity and bitter notr of strawberry, malt, 14.09.22, at Epalinges.

Trocken herber Beginn. Der Hopfen ist verhalten, angenehm nach Grapefruit, moderat bitter. Süffig, mittellanger Abgang, OK. 8/8/9/8/12/8

Hazy straw yellow with rapidly receding head. Modest aromas: floral, tropicals. A bit metallic on the tongue up front, citrusy, then some fruit, and quickly into bitterness. Bit of a watery taste too. Ok.

Hazy light yellow with fast receding head. Pretty neutral nose: floral, pear notes, faint grapefruit. Delivers more on the palette: orange Marmelade, grapefruit, pear drops. Nicely rounded, lingering hoppy finish.

0.44 l can from 'AH XL' (Roermond), canned in August 2025. A bit hazy, very dark ruby with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, fairly roasty and a little fruity aroma of lots of espresso, some caramel and traces of raisins. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, fairly roasty and minimally fruity taste of espresso, caramel, toasted nuts and light raisins, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter finish. Medium to full body, smooth but quite effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Decent brew, too heavy on the espresso for my liking though.

Schade!

0.33 l can from 'AH XL' (Roermond), canned in November 2025. Hazy, straw yellow with a medium large, slightly fluffy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, rather fruity-floral and a bit dank aroma of passion fruit, pineapple and gooseberry. Gently sweet, hardly bitter, rather fruity-floral and a bit dank taste of passion fruit, pineapple, some gooseberry and light grains, followed by a short, hardly bitter, minimally dry finish. Thin to medium body, smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Really good NAIPA, very well-brewed.

Good yellowish head, rather stable over bright if veiled orange beer. Fresh lupulin, Irish moss, citrus, exotic fruit, pine & resin; faint almonds, pot pourri. Nectarine, amandine, citruspeel. Notes of resin, and accordingly dry. Orangejuice, pineapple, passion fruit, unripe mango. Very well-carbonated, making it appear fresh despite the dry, resiny MF and the creaminess from the oats. Medium bodied at least. Excellent strong IPA! Txs to Stef!
