Description
Our mission is pretty much monomaniacal: to brew f*cking good beer. We call it craft-y beer because the owl's got a sharp, uncompromised tongue and a penchant for mischief.
On a typical day we toy with the familiar – unfiltered lager, silky hefeweizen and puckery American IPA, anyone? – but at night we explore the crafty beer extremes from our medieval watering hole Haarlem (That's Haarlem with two 'a's, the Dutch one, and the namesake of New York's single-'a'ed Harlem).
Really truly, our idea of fun is abusing the rauchbeer-Scotch ale-sour beer-oak-aged Imperial Stout-Barley wine clichés. The first rule of owl school: when using hops think in wheelbarrows and not buckets.
So enjoy us, drink us and by all means hop fans abuse us right back – ideally via our social media channels where we announce our very active new creations.
Acquired by Swinkels Family Brewers in 2021.

--- Beer merged from original tick of Meneer de Uil - Jack Daniels BA on 18 May 2018 at 14:28 - Score: 9

--- Beer merged from original tick of Meneer de Uil - Caol Ila BA on 18 May 2018 at 14:28 - Score: 8

8/III/14 - 33cl bottle @ Emelisse brewery (Kamperland) - BB: X/2014 (2014-256) Thanks to Tinus for sharing the bottle!
Dark brown to black beer, creamy beige head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: lots of citrus, very fruity, little sweet, some caramel, pineapple, sweet mango, bit soapy. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: nice bitterness, very fruity, lots of citrus, some caramel, pretty hoppy, bitter. Aftertaste: piny and resinous, some caramel, mocha, fruity notes, still quite some citrus, grassy bitter hops, bit piny.

330ml bottle received from MrHangover (European Local Swap 4.0), thanks!
BBE AUG/14 - Pours orange with a bubbly white head. Aroma of grainy maltiness, citrusy hops, hints of fruits, berries and grassy notes. Taste is smooth, crisp malty, grassy hoppy with notes of exotic fruits, berries and caramely notes. Finish is hoppy, crisp and caramely with hints of dough, exotic fruits, grass and herbal notes. Surprisingly good IPA.

Opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Big TCP whisky dominates the mellow dark malt. Nope - this is too TCP to be drinkable.

Almost black with big full beige head. Massive fruity hops (mango, pineapple, citrus) piny, some roasted malts, coffee, liquorice. Mainly bitter with some sweetness in the middle. Medium bodied, bit lite feel. Love it.

Bottle thanks to long-lost Josh. It pours darkest brown with a small tan head. The nose is roasted malt, pine, toast, dried fruit and dark chocolate. The taste is cocoa, roasty, toast, earth, rocky road, pine and dried fruit with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Very nice cocoa character to it. Pretty tasty stuff.

Opaque dark brown beer, small paletan head. Palate is soft and smooth with mild fine carbonation. Creamy dark malt, smooth strong whisky with TCP. Doesn’t feel very JD to me. Light dark fruits. Little spice, smooth finish. Nice beer but really not convinced this is a JD barrel. A mislabel?
