Description
Our mission is pretty much monomaniacal: to brew f*cking good beer. We call it craft-y beer because the owl's got a sharp, uncompromised tongue and a penchant for mischief.
On a typical day we toy with the familiar – unfiltered lager, silky hefeweizen and puckery American IPA, anyone? – but at night we explore the crafty beer extremes from our medieval watering hole Haarlem (That's Haarlem with two 'a's, the Dutch one, and the namesake of New York's single-'a'ed Harlem).
Really truly, our idea of fun is abusing the rauchbeer-Scotch ale-sour beer-oak-aged Imperial Stout-Barley wine clichés. The first rule of owl school: when using hops think in wheelbarrows and not buckets.
So enjoy us, drink us and by all means hop fans abuse us right back – ideally via our social media channels where we announce our very active new creations.

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Slightly hazy golden amber colour, off-white head. Aroma of ripe fruits, citrus, some resin, sweet malts, some caramel, honey, hint of butterscotch. Flavour is medium-sweet, malty, butterscotch, honey, ripe fruits, sweet citrus, mellow bitter hoppy finish. Easy drinking. Medium-bodied, slick. Reminded me of Jopen De Hoop. Nice.

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Black colour, big beige-brown head. Aroma of grapefruit, roasted malts, laurel, liquorice, some coffee. Flavour is medium-sweet, roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, grapefruit, soft bitter finish with a hint of resin. Light to medium-bodied. Nicely balanced BIPA, as far as that is possible in this style.

Hazy amber beer, good off white head. Palate is crisp and dry. Smooth dry malt, touch of caramel. Fair bit of lactose. A little orange peel and marmalade hops on the backend. Softish dry finish. Light marmalade aftertaste. Not bad but again a little too much lactose from this brewer.

Slightly murky amber beer, tidy pale cream coloured head. Softish palate, airy and semi dry. Airy malt - quite lactose. Little smoke and ripe orange. Dry finish with a lactose aftertaste. Messy! Cute label though!

Dark beer with a brown head. Sharp taste of coffee and some chocolate. Good beer, but it could be great if it had more depth.

Black with nice light brown head. Earthy, peat, ash, wood, roasted malts, coffee. Some fruity notes, tart red berries and green apple. Some honey and spices too after it’s warmed slightly. Taste is well balanced. Starts almost salty because of the peat, then a light sweet kick and finishes with a fruity tartness. Big bitter aftertaste. Medium mouth and average carbonation. This is a bit all over the place, but very enjoyable.

Hazy deep amber beer, tidy off white head. Palate is light, dry and crispy. The soft dry malt has a bitter toffee streak. Pithy orange and spicy pine hops. Light malt cream. Comes together well. Fairly dry finish. Spicy hop aftertaste. Tasty if a tad dry.

Strong whiskey aroma, black beer with small crème head. Intense and deep taste of coffee, cacao and some dark fruit I think. Warm aftertaste.

Hoppy and fruity beer, with a body of roasted malt and some coffee. Fresh, but also a bit flat.
