Description
Our mission is pretty much monomaniacal: to brew f*cking good beer. We call it craft-y beer because the owl's got a sharp, uncompromised tongue and a penchant for mischief.
On a typical day we toy with the familiar – unfiltered lager, silky hefeweizen and puckery American IPA, anyone? – but at night we explore the crafty beer extremes from our medieval watering hole Haarlem (That's Haarlem with two 'a's, the Dutch one, and the namesake of New York's single-'a'ed Harlem).
Really truly, our idea of fun is abusing the rauchbeer-Scotch ale-sour beer-oak-aged Imperial Stout-Barley wine clichés. The first rule of owl school: when using hops think in wheelbarrows and not buckets.
So enjoy us, drink us and by all means hop fans abuse us right back – ideally via our social media channels where we announce our very active new creations.

Bottle shared by Dutchdrebus @ weekly tasting. Opaque black color, small light brown head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is malts and barrel aging. Taste malts, only lightly roasty, but again dominantly the barrel aging coming through. Hard to describe though, there are plently of flavors but I can’t quite seem to find out the individual flavors. Could mean they’re very well blended together off course. Yeah, let’s stay with that, so it’s not me ;) Nice beer.

Bottle @ joes. Not completely black, but still pretty much black colour with a small light brown head. Smells sweet, roasty, chocolate, raisins, cognac, some alcohol. Tastes roasty, chocolate, slightly ashy, sweet, slightly vanilla, wood, whisky. Full body, soft carbo, slightly silky, lasting taste.

Bottled (mentions peated and oak aged), large sample. Dark color, short creamy brown head. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, dark fruit, some oaky notes, hint of peat. Quite sweet taste, some bitterness, bit dry sharp notes from the oak. Thick body, creamy.

Almost black with thin beige head. Berries, cherry, roasted malts, ash, burnt toast, lots of citrusy and slightly piny hops. Light sweet fades quick into medium strong bitterness. Medium bodied, very slick feel. Nice stuff, but could use more body.

Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a hazy medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is rich malty hop. The flavour is strong bitter with an alcoholic liqourice slightly fruity palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a long, very pleasant, bitter finish. A superb DIPA and one of the the best i’ve ever tasted from the Netherlands.
