A smooth, creamy stout, with quite a bit of slickness and body from the oats - vanilla sweetness balanced well by bittersweet chocolate, moderate roast, and mild black malt bitterness - chocolate finish, with a tiny bit of hops to round it out - decent.

Probably the best beer I had here - a fairly clean ipa, with just enough malt sweetness to temper the earthy hop profile - quite herbal throughout - medium-bodied, with a clean finish.

Pretty boring, even for an amber ale - some notes of toasted grains and light sweetness - the faintest tang of hops - has that metallic character I noticed in their lager as well, but this beer had even less going on, so it was a lot more prominent - meh.

Who listed this as an ale? - this is a friggin’ pils - anyway, tap at the downtown location - fairly clean, with a light honey sweetness to it - fairly smooth - medium-bodied - some peppery noble hops - a kind of metallic character that I noticed in all of their lighter beers - okay, I guess.

Found my tasting notes from our Sept. 2000 Rt. 66 trip, at the suburban location. This is before I discovered beer rating sites, but I still wanted to note some impressions. My little scribbled notes say its impression was "not chocolate, like they say (in the description), but a strong coffee finish." Not the more detailed stuff I wrote once I discovered RateBeer, but I wanted to give props for a place that I thought had good beer AND good food.

I had the most notes on this one among the samplers I tried. "Coppery, despite lower IBUs; drier and crisper than the IPA. Okay, not enough for BJCP certification, but I wanted to give props for a place that I thought had good beer AND good food.

I did have down that there were definite spice notes, good observation for likely my first wheat beer (along with a "Heifer Vison’ Hefeweizen" that I won’t add because I have no idea if it has been brewed in the past 8 years.
