Blanchard’s, Allston sixpack ($10.69): Pours a pale golden color with a small white head. Aroma is of a little bit of bread, some straw, and a pleasant amount of hops. Basically, this beer is a refreshing and very crisp golden ale. Moderate amount of hop bitterness, and the hop character is actually pretty well done. Malt backbone is not the fattest thing in the world, but is sufficient for my palate. I thought it was good, though not extraordinary.

Gravicask, one-third pint at USA Cask Ale Bar, GBBF ’11. Deep, dark brown body under a bright surface. Smell of roasted malts added by dusty hops. Blended taste character of coffee grounds, chocolate and offset by fruity hops. Wooden dry ending. Decent porter (London, 03.08.2011).

Cask at GBBF 2011. A dark brown coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Roasty, malty aroma. Tastes malty, roasty, chocolate, coffee. Really smooth and enjoyable. Lovely porter from New England.

Bottle at John’s house. Pours amber. White head. Nose and taste of bitter skunky hops, resin, citrus rind, caramel malt and apple skin. Very bitter citrus rind finish. Medium to full body for a regular IPA.

Draft @ Sunset Grill and Tap. Alston, MA. Hazy gold / yellow color. Smell of wheat and rye bread. Taste is much the same with some spice and light hop in the finish. Light bitterness. Pretty good flavor for a low ABV brew. Worth a try if you can find on draft.

On draft @ Sunset Grill and Tap. Hazy amber pour with a white head and decent lacing. Nose of fresh hops and grassy notes. A very light and refreshing IPA. It isn’t something you need to seek out BUT, it is a simple, fresh IPA with a decent Hop bite in the finish. I drank it real easy and found it to be real refreshing.

ohhh the buttery goodness, and so easy to drink, nice that they made it a mild ale instead of going gonzo on it. light brown/red color, taste is of buttered bread with some hop spice and floral notes. yum.

i used to get mad at east coast brewers for brewing "english ipa’s". leave the malt heavy versions to the limey’s and lets kick up the hops american style! but now i dont care so much, its fine, not going to surprise anyone.

Pours deep brown into a snifter. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to film surface and hug rim. Soy and espresso aromas. Thin with sweet licorice and soy upfront turning to mild chocolate in the lasting hot finish.
