Newcastle jaunt. Keg at By The River. Pours black with a tight tan head. Aromas of dark cherry and rich chocolate cake. Really jumps out of the glass. Taste is rich, cakey, more dark cherry. Very smooth texture. Long, lingering finish. Everything it should be. A highlight of the day.

Newcastle jaunt. Keg at By The River. Pours murky yellow with a thick white head. Aromas of heady tropical fruit, ripe mango, fresh orange. Taste is juicy fruits and light hop bite. Clean finish.

On keg at Salt Horse. Appearance - deep black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - dark chocolate with cherry and mint. Taste - deep creamy chocolate wit cherry lozenge and again a herby menthol note at the back. Palate - rich and sweet with a long linger. Overall - delicious.

Keg at salthorse. Pours deep ruby brown, nose is huge cherry, slightly medicinal, sweeties, chocolate, toffee, taste is sweet toffee, juicy cherry, liquorice, a little smoky, chewy.

Keg at Cotteridge Wines tasting room; hazy golden yellow pour with a thin white head, aroma has big pine and mango, taste has smooth pine, slightly dank, some mango and peach.

Cask at By the River Brew Co. Black brown colour, thin beige foam head leaving lacing and nutty roast chocolate aroma. Taste is sweet malty, nutty and roasted notes, withdark cherry fruit, chocolatey, coffee, vanilla and spicy boozy earthy bitterness. Medium to full mouthfeel, soft carbonation, semi-dry light bitter finish. Nicely drinkable.

ABV: 8.4%. Clear dark brown colour with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, coffee, cherry, dark malt. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration, cherry, chocolate, dark malt, candy - sweet malt, roasted. Body is medium, texture is oily - creamy, carbonation is flat. [20180722]
