About
Woodman's Wild Ale specialises in beers brewed with seasonal and wild plants, with a particular interest in the use of wild yeasts and bacteria in producing sour and farmhouse ales. We brew both historical and modern styles, taking inspiration from different countries brewing traditions and our surroundings in the beautiful countryside of Cornwall.

Our beers are available in keg, cask and bottle and we also run foraging walks and brew days, as well as food and beer pairing events throughout the year

Keg at CBC Covent Garden. Astringent/fruit vinegar aroma. Inhale it. Murky darkish brown. The beige head just rings the rim (or whatever). Very sour. That remains throughout and is almost overpowering. However there is life underneath the sourness... a nutty fudgy nougat coffee slab is in there. The miasma cannot hide it entirely as tendrils reach for the surface. Light bodied. Thin but slick. Flat. Uber face smashingly (clearly I exaggerate) astringent finish. I like. But recently I've been getting into melodic and depressive black metal so I may be having a breakdown.

500ml bottle. Pours opaque dark brown with a tight tan head. Aroma: fruity with brett funk & vinegar hints. On the taste it's lightly tart, fruity & earthy with a funky Flanders Red type vibe. Medium bodied with generous carb as wiith other WWA beers, dry earthy finish. Really interesting again. Love the forager.

Gravity cask at the 2019 Leicester Beer Festival. Chocolate brown, muddy, flat. Soy sauce and spolied meats in the aroma. Tastes of beef OXO cubes and balsamic vinegar. I like sour beers, but this doesn't work on any level. And why sour a Scotch ale? Or is it just off?
