Dirck the Norseman, Brooklyn tap: Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is light citrus and a bit of spice. Taste is like a sweet gose. The beer is pretty salty, but it is way sweeter than your average gose. That said, for me this beer was more gose than it was wit.

I had this at Proletariat, NYC. After doing some research, this might be a version or alternate name of Dirck the Norseman Helles Porch, which is also apparently a smoked red rye lager. In any case, it pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma is nice meaty, Bamberg-style smoke with a nice rye lager backbone. Smoke in the taste comes up front and then it goes off into nice rye and grain taste. Body is pretty light. A little thin toward the end. Overall good.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours a dirty yellow with a white head. Aroma is smoke, some citrus (lemon especially), and some yeastiness. Taste is smoky right up at the front and then it gets more into the fruitiness. As you keep sipping, as is usually the case, the smokiness starts getting harder to get, but it is strong enough not to disappear entirely. Good smoked wheat beer.
